This Wesak celebration at d’CRADLE Home was filled with meaningful moments that brought people together through learning, mindfulness, wellness, service, and joyful connection. 💛Participants engaged in the Herbal Pouch Workshop, flower offerings, TCM & health consultations, nutrition wellness booths, d’CRADLE programme sharing, and wholesome vegetarian fellowship lunch throughout the day. 🌿Another joyful highlight was the very first performance by Harmony d’LAB, d’CRADLE’s Youth & Campus Outreach (Y&CO), where the youths came together to perform 4 meaningful songs. 🎶 Their energy, sincerity, and passion added warmth and youthful spirit to the Wesak celebration, reflecting the importance of nurturing the next generation through Dhamma-inspired creativity and connection. Our funding initiative launch of the “Growing the Values Tree”, a reminder that every act of generosity and kindness helps nurture Buddha-inspired learning and leadership for generations to come. 🌳The Wesak Forum, themed “Living a Buddha-inspired Life”, featured inspiring and heartfelt sharing by Dd. Dr. Punna Wong, Dd. Khoo Nee Wern, and Dd. Lim Ee Vi, with moderation by Dd. Kua Then Hong. Their reflections on compassion, service, challenges in life, and applying the Buddha’s teachings in today’s world deeply resonated with many participants. 🙏Beyond the programmes and activities, what made this celebration truly special was the spirit of togetherness, volunteerism, sincerity, and warmth shared by everyone present.A big thank you to all speakers, working team, funders, sponsors, supporters, and participants for making this Wesak celebration so meaningful and memorable. ✨May we continue to cultivate wisdom, compassion, mindfulness, and generosity in our daily lives.Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu 🙏#Wesak2026 #dCRADLE #LivingABuddhaInspiredLife #WesakForum #Mindfulness #Compassion #Gratitude #Togetherness ... 🪷 Reflections on the Heart Sutra 🪷On Wesak Eve, Dd Dr. Punna Wong shared a profound and insightful reflection on the Heart Sutra — a sacred teaching that encapsulates the essence of the Buddha’s wisdom. It is a teaching to hold close to the heart, something to revisit again and again throughout life.At the centre of the Heart Sutra is the teaching of emptiness — 无 (wu) in Chinese, śūnyatā in Sanskrit. When we observe the Five Aggregates — form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness — through the lens of Prajñāpāramitā (Perfect Wisdom), we begin to understand that they are empty of any fixed, independent essence.A mountain may appear permanent and solid, yet it is merely a temporary gathering of rocks, soil, minerals, vegetation, and countless conditions. Likewise, what we call “self” is also a collection of changing conditions and experiences. Yet we cling to this identity, creating the illusion of a permanent “me,” which gives rise to suffering. We label our life stories as success or failure, happiness or sadness, and through attachment to these labels, we create anxiety, pride, fear, and disappointment.Hence the famous line from the Heart Sutra:“Form is emptiness; emptiness is form.”Things are empty of permanent meaning, yet they still function in our daily lives. A cloth can become a blanket or a carpet — the cloth itself remains unchanged. The problem begins when we insist that its role is fixed and absolute. The Buddha’s Middle Way avoids both extremes of denial and attachment.Just as mountains continuously erode and transform, the Five Aggregates are constantly changing. This reflects the truths of impermanence (anicca) and non-self (anattā). There is no permanent self behind our experiences.Upon awakening, one fully understands suffering, impermanence, and non-self, and lets go of attachment to identity view (sakkāya-diṭṭhi). This is liberation.Imagine carrying two buckets of water.Do not become overly attached because you possess them.Do not despair when some water spills. And when carrying them becomes exhausting, allow yourself to put them down. The wisdom of Prajñāpāramitā is neither clinging nor rejecting. It is learning to carry what is needed, let go when appropriate, and remain fully present throughout the journey. To live without clinging, while embracing life as it unfolds — this is the heart of the Heart Sutra.May we continue to reflect, practise, and return to this wisdom again and again. 🙏— By Dd Kee Win ...
